About the Club

The North Hills Amateur Radio Club (NHARC), callsign W3EXW, is a group of amateur radio operators in the Greater Pittsburgh area. We exist to promote fellowship among hams, to give members opportunities to learn and grow in the hobby, to run activities throughout the year, and to operate and maintain a network of repeaters across the region.

Whether you are a brand-new operator studying for your Technician license, an experienced ham looking for an active local club, or simply curious about amateur radio, you are welcome here. Come to a meeting, check into a net, or drop us a note — we would love to hear from you.

What we do

• Operate repeaters — a network of analog and D-STAR machines covering the region 24/7.
• Run weekly nets — a great, low-pressure way to get on the air and meet the club.
• Host license exams — volunteer examiner (VE) sessions for new and upgrading hams.
• Get together — monthly business and activities meetings, plus an informal breakfast.
• Support the hobby — public service, special events, field day, and community outreach.
