License Testing
VE exam sessions on the second Saturday of every month.
The club holds Volunteer Examiner (VE) test sessions on the second Saturday of each month. Testing begins at noon. These sessions are open to anyone seeking a new amateur radio license or upgrading an existing one.

Fees
- $15 exam session fee — cash, paid to the VE team at the session.
- $35 FCC application fee — for a new or upgraded license, paid directly to the FCC through the CORES system after you pass (not collected at the session).
Reserve your seat
Please email ve@nharc.org (Bob Worek, AG3U) at least 24 hours in advance so we can plan for your session. Walk-ins may be accommodated, but reserving ahead is strongly encouraged. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork.
What to bring
- Two forms of identification — at least one a photo ID.
- Your FCC-issued FRN (Federal Registration Number). This is required before testing — Social Security numbers are no longer accepted by the FCC. Register for an FRN at the FCC CORES website ahead of time.
- If upgrading: the original and a photocopy of your current license or CSCE.
- A calculator is permitted (no stored formulas). Bring a pen and pencils.
- $15 in cash for the exam session fee.
