The club holds Volunteer Examiner (VE) test sessions on the second Saturday of each month. Testing begins at noon. These sessions are open to anyone seeking a new amateur radio license or upgrading an existing one.

Where

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices — The Preferred Realty (Hampton) 4100 William Flinn Highway (Route 8), Allison Park, PA 15101

Fees

  • $15 exam session fee — cash, paid to the VE team at the session.
  • $35 FCC application fee — for a new or upgraded license, paid directly to the FCC through the CORES system after you pass (not collected at the session).

Reserve your seat

Please email ve@nharc.org (Bob Worek, AG3U) at least 24 hours in advance so we can plan for your session. Walk-ins may be accommodated, but reserving ahead is strongly encouraged. Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork.

What to bring

  • Two forms of identification — at least one a photo ID.
  • Your FCC-issued FRN (Federal Registration Number). This is required before testing — Social Security numbers are no longer accepted by the FCC. Register for an FRN at the FCC CORES website ahead of time.
  • If upgrading: the original and a photocopy of your current license or CSCE.
  • A calculator is permitted (no stored formulas). Bring a pen and pencils.
  • $15 in cash for the exam session fee.
